Chemical movies in web pages

Currently grappling with the vexed problem of embedded movies on web pages. Not for here mind you, for work.
You know the sort of thing…
Molecular dynamics sims, rotating proteins etc. Time was this used to be easy. Save as Quicktime and go. Now there are no end of format options with no clear winner. I’m leaning toward .mov files still but some people around here are agitating for flash.

Throw in what happens when Firefox truncates the progress bars and it’s a nightmare. And of course IE doesn’t render them properly at all, Safari does something else again. Which codec to use? H264?

arrrghhhhh.
